🎵 Song Lyrics

I had a nightmare
And didn't like it
I'm so afraid
I don't wanna sleep again

It was so scary
And there were no fairies
Just ugly monsters
Trying to haunt me

Oh baby

It's just a bad dream
A ba ba ba ba bad dream
They can not hurt you
It's just imagination

It's just a bad dream
A ba ba ba ba bad dream
They can not hurt you
It's just imagination

When we awake
They just go away
You realize you are safe
Cozy in bed with teddy bear

When we awake
They just go away
You realize you are safe
Cozy in bed with teddy bear

And always remember

Nothing can hurt you
When we are together
Nothing can hurt you
You are protected

Nothing can hurt you
When we are together
Nothing can hurt you
You are protected

But mommy
It was so scary
And there were no fairies
Just ugly monsters
Trying to haunt me

Oh baby

It's just a bad dream
A ba ba ba ba bad dream
They can not hurt you
It's just imagination

When we awake
They just go away
You realize you are safe
Cozy in bed with teddy bear

And always remember

Nothing can hurt you
When we are together
Nothing can hurt you
You are protected

Nothing can hurt you
When we are together
Nothing can hurt you
You are protected
Forever

About This Song

It's Just a Bad Dream is an upbeat song about feeling scared after a nightmare and finding comfort with Mommy Penguin. Bebo the penguin lies in his dark bedroom with a worried face. He wakes after dreaming about monsters and does not want to sleep again. He pulls his blue star blanket over his head, hiding underneath it as Mommy comes through the doorway.

Mommy walks over to his bed and gently reminds him that the monsters were only in his dream. They cannot hurt him now that he is awake. Bebo peeks out from behind the blanket while she stays beside him. His room becomes brighter, and the familiar bed, toys, and stars on the walls are easier to see.

Bebo still remembers how scary the dream felt. He tells Mommy about it again, and she answers with the same kind words. She reminds him that they are together and that he is protected. The repeated bad dream chorus gives him another chance to hear that what frightened him was not real.

With Mommy nearby, Bebo holds his brown teddy bear close against his chest. His worried face changes to a smile, and he rests his head on the pillow again. The star lamp glows beside the bed while he closes his eyes, tucked under his blanket with his teddy bear in his wings.
