Twinkle Twinkle Little Star by Leigha Marina is a soft bedtime lullaby about Bebo the penguin and a happy little star. The star comes to Bebo's bed while he sleeps, and the two friends fly out into the night sky together, over the city, the snowy mountains and the clouds. This version sings all five verses of the classic song, including the traveler in the dark who thanks the star for its tiny spark.

The Story Behind Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

The words to Twinkle Twinkle Little Star come from a poem called The Star, written by Jane Taylor. It was first printed in 1806 in Rhymes for the Nursery, a book of poems by Jane and her sister Ann Taylor. The tune is even older. It comes from a French melody first published in 1761, and Mozart later wrote twelve variations on it. The same tune is also used for the ABC Song and Baa Baa Black Sheep, which is why so many kids learn all three so easily.

Jane Taylor's poem has five verses, but most people only know the first one. Our version sings all five, including the traveler in the dark who thanks the star for its tiny spark, and the star that peeks through the curtains all night.

Our Little Penguin Version

Leigha Marina's version first came out on YouTube on June 12, 2019, and later became track 1 on Vol. 6. In the cartoon, Bebo is fast asleep and dreaming. A bright, happy yellow star with sparkles all around it comes to his bed to wake him up. Bebo opens his eyes and starts to float off his bed, and the two friends fly out into the night sky together.

They fly over the city, over the snowy mountains, above the clouds and through a sky full of little stars, with a yellow crescent moon shining behind them. At the end we see that Bebo was only dreaming. He is still asleep in his bed, but his star friend is right outside the window, happily watching over him.
