There Were Five In The Bed by Leigha Marina is a sweet counting song about the 5 little penguins sharing one bed. When Mia has the whole bed to herself, she feels lonely, so all her friends climb back in with Mia right in the middle.

🎵 Song Lyrics

There were five in the bed
And the little one said
Roll over roll over
So they all rolled over and one fell out

Four
There were four in the bed
And the little one said
Roll over roll over
So they all rolled over and one fell out

Three
There were three in the bed
And the little one said
Roll over roll over
So they all rolled over and one fell out

Two
There were two in the bed
And the little one said
Roll over roll over
So they both rolled over and one fell out

One
There was one in the bed
And the little one said
I'm lonely

The Story Behind There Were Five In The Bed

There Were Five In The Bed is a traditional English nursery rhyme and counting song. The best known version starts with ten in the bed, and many families sing it with five for younger kids. Each time the little one says roll over, everyone rolls and one falls out, so children count backward one number at a time. At the end, the last one in the bed says either good night or I'm lonely, depending on which version you grew up with.

Our Little Penguin Version

Leigha Marina's version first came out on YouTube on October 21, 2018, and later became track 24 on Vol. 2. Five little penguins are sharing one bed. From left to right, there are Makaio, Okee, Bebo, Nora and Mia. Mia is the smallest, and she is squeezed on the edge, so she asks everyone to roll over to make more room. They all roll over, and Makaio falls out on the other side.

Now there is plenty of room for Mia, but she wants even more. She asks everyone to roll over again, and this time Okee falls out. Then Bebo falls out, and then Nora. At last Mia has the whole bed to herself, but with no one left next to her, she feels lonely and a little sad.

Then all the penguins climb back into bed. This time Mia is right in the middle, and everyone is happy. It is a sweet way to show kids that sharing feels better than having everything to yourself.
